FORCELLA PORDOI

Alpine Hut Canazei (Alba - Penia)

The Rifugio Forcella Pordoi is the gateway to the Sella Group for those who approach from Passo Pordoi: it’s the perfect place to stop and rest before entering the realm of rock. The path zig-zags up the (very steep) scree, while the Refuge at the top signals the end of the walk. Feeling tired? Then just think that the fastest runners in the Dolomites Skyrace - that takes place here every summer - get to the Refuge in less than an hour (from Canazei!) and continue towards Piz Boè before heading back down to the valley. If you’re not up to it, you can still get there with the Sass Pordoi cable car - it’s then a few minutes (downhill) walk to the Forcella (difficulty E). Open From 20 June to 30 September Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks This refuge is a base for walks on the Sella massif’s classic routes: to Piz Boe, first on a path and then over uneven, broken rock up to Capanna Piz Fassa (2 hours, difficulty EE); to Rifugio Boè along an easy path (1 hour). The walk to Rifugio Cavazza al Pisciadù on the eastern side of the Sella Group, via Refuge Boè, takes 3 ½ hours (difficulty EE).
