With Dolomiti Superski - responsibility, we want to create a well-defined and structured sustainability programme that takes into account the complexity of the Dolomiti Superski system and the different needs of the ski areas, reinforcing the strategic positioning in the direction of sustainability. Every production process, from the operation of the lifts, to the preparation of the slopes, trails and tracks, to the issuing of tickets etc., is optimised according to a credible logic of sustainability.
Dolomiti Superski wants to be a driving force and an example for the entire chain, for the sustainable development of the area.
Dolomites UNESCO

The great beauty is that which can be enjoyed from the panoramic balconies desired by the Dolomites UNESCO foundation.
The Dolomites tell 250 million years of history, they began as coral reefs and today show themselves as beautiful rock towers.
The natural paradise has been part of the UNESCO natural heritage since 2009.
To govern the beauty of the Dolomites, the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation was established in 2010. The idea is to blur the boundary between human intervention and the landscape context. The site must not be over-exploited from an environmental point of view and management must adopt principles of conservation and sustainable development, such as land management, traffic or overtourism. 95% of the Unesco Dolomites territory consists of protected areas.

Dolomiti Superski - responsibility

The objective of the sustainability project "DS Responsibility", born in the year 2018, is to develop strategies capable of contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint of the destination.
Increasingly central is the sustainable and responsible approach to plant engeening activities, with a focus on processes, technologies and use of resources that are as in tune with the environment as possible.
Sustainability rangers can be found in all 12 Dolomiti Superski/ Supersummer resorts. Their task is to guard and spread the culture of ecological, social and economic sustainability.
The way of living and travelling has changed, but the environment, biodiversity and local culture are the raw material without which tourism is doomed to die.
"We will all have to work to guarantee the future generation a better world than the one we live in."
Fabio Romelli ~ Sustainability ranger of the Val di Fassa
How does Dolomiti Superski contribute to sustainability?
Sustainable snowmaking

Over time, technology has made great strides. Also in terms of eco-sustainability. The super-tech cannons have a low energy consumption of 20 kw. They also run at 1500 rpm, whereas in the 1980s they needed 3000 rpm, so today they are quieter.
Snowmaking also serves to provide work for ski instructors, hoteliers, restaurants and all those involved in the Dolomiti Superski.
Natural snow would never be enough for a winter season, they have a larger crystal than technical snow and therefore a much shorter duration.
Technical snow is just water that comes out of a small hole at a very high pressure, pulverises and with the cold turns into crystals. No chemicals are used.
The water used is then returned to the ground as the real snow melts.

Do you already know our new Dolomiti Superski magazine?
The Myths was created to tell the emotions, people and stories of the area and is published twice a year in winter and summer versions. It aims to become a coveted holiday companion, helping to discover this territory in an even deeper and more genuine way.
The paper used in the magazine is naturally ecological and wood-free coated. This means 50 per cent cellulose and 50 per cent coating, which showed an excellent result with high quality printing.
