MOUNTAIN BIKE TOUR OF THE LATEMAR
Touring the roads and trails of the Latemar on a mountain bike? With the ski lifts you can optimise times, follow the course and enjoy beautiful views. Bike transport is included in the price of your ticket.
3 starting points:
The Latemar tour is perfect for mountain biking novices and professionals alike: the itinerary has a wealth of views of the Dolomites and welcoming refreshment points. Along the route, you can admire the Rosengarten (the “rose garden” of the Dolomites), the rocks and pinnacles of the Latemar and the crystal-clear waters of Karersee Lake. The scenery of the Dolomites is fabulous; the trail winds through Val di Fiemme, Obereggen and Val di Fassa, halfway between Trentino and Alto Adige.
PASSO FEUDO – PAMPEAGO – OBEREGGEN – LAGO DI CAREZZA – PASSO DI COSTALUNGA – MOENA – PREDAZZO – GARDONÈ – PASSO FEUDO
To do the tour of the Latemar on a mountain bike, it is better to follow the course in a clockwise direction. Starting from Predazzo with the gondola lift, you reach Gardonè (altitude 1650 m) and continue by chairlift up to Passo Feudo (altitude 2169 m), the highest point on the route, to then descend to Pampeago along a mountain path as far as the Zischg and Ganischger mountain huts. The trail then continues on a paved road, through gentle pastures, to Passo di Pampeago. From there, you continue on paved roads through the forests of South Tyrol until you enter the tunnel that descends towards Obereggen. You then proceed along a dirt road as far as Bewallerhof, where a short uphill section begins, after which the route continues for 5 km with a pleasant slope through meadows in bloom and dense woodlands. The route continues alongside the provincial highway until you reach the marvellous basin of Karersee Lake. Karersee Lake is one of the wonders of the tour of the Latemar: the massif of the Latemar mirrored in its green waters is a breath-taking view. You continue uphill along the state highway as far as Passo di Costalunga, after which, on the right (following the signs for Malga Secine), you take a forest road that leads back to the valley and the town of Moena. Once you reach the centre of Moena, you can follow the signs on the cycle path and continue almost to Predazzo. Along the route you will see the gondola lift of the ski-lift systems.
The route can be modified, depending on the chosen starting point: if you start from Pampeago, you can reach the Zischg refuge with the Latemar chairlift; if you start from Obereggen, you will fill yourselves immediately in the midst of the forest. In all cases, before setting off, it is advisable to check the times of the ski lifts as they stop for a break at midday.
As an alternative route, you can start from Nova Levante, taking the gondola lift to Malga Frommer. From the station at the top of the gondola lift, you descend along the path until you reach the provincial highway in Passo Costalunga and then continue along the paved road until the fork at Malga Secine, following the indications given above.
There are two alternatives for the tickets, depending on the route you choose.
