Off the slopes, into nature

A winter holiday in the ski resort of Val di Fiemme

Val di Fiemme, in the Dolomites of Trentino, stretches between spruce forests and two nature parks: Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino and Monte Corno. In its snow-covered woods, the footprints of deer, roe deer and foxes are accompanied by the small holes of Nordic walking poles or the oval impressions of snowshoes. Fiemme is the ideal destination for hikers and nature lovers. The most popular sport after alpine skiing is certainly cross-country skiing, which leads straight to the heart of Val di Fiemme, a valley in Trentino among the Unesco World Heritage Dolomites. This valley guarantees an exclusive relationship of intimacy with nature that is only apparently immobile. Thanks to two well-equipped centres for cross-country skiing and ski jumping, as well as 120 kilometres of pistes amidst woods and Dolomite scenery, Val di Fiemme will host the Nordic skiing competitions of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in 2026.

More than 120 km of slopes in the world's most beautiful mountains

Do you already have several kilometres of pistes behind you, or are you just now approaching winter sports in the Dolomites? For both, the Val di Fiemme/Obereggen ski area is perfect: in Val di Fiemme there is room for all levels of expertise. With an average of 63 days of sunshine and no less than 18 kilometres of black runs, thoroughbred skiers will find what they are looking for. For those who prefer something more leisurely, the approximately 52 kilometres of red runs and 40 kilometres of blue runs are the most suitable. In addition, 45 of the most modern ski lifts are at your disposal, from ski lifts and chair lifts to the most comfortable gondolas.

Something for the brave: it is famous, spectacular and one of the longest in the Alps, we are talking about the Olimpia piste on Cermis. In all its splendour!

Families first: In all ski resorts in the Val di Fiemme/Obereggen ski region, even very young skiers are welcome. In the snow kindergartens, the best ski schools and the adventurous snow parks, the youngest winter sports fan will learn the pleasures of skiing amidst games and fun.

Down the slopes with the right spirit: 120 ski instructors support all beginners and novice skiers in Val di Fiemme. All you have to do is enrol in the ski schools and learn how to use your skis and poles properly!

How to get to Val di Fiemme

You don't expect to be able to immerse yourself in the "World Natural Heritage" Dolomite landscape... without having to suffer through tortuous mountain climbs.
And yet, Val di Fiemme is easy to reach. Just twenty kilometres from the Ora-Egna exit of the Brennero motorway, scenery of rare beauty opens up.
There are two roads that run entirely through Val di Fiemme. While the Statale delle Dolomiti (Dolomites Highway) enters the urban centre of Cavalese and, subsequently, all the municipalities, the faster straight road at the bottom of the valley follows the course of the Avisio torrent, with exits in every village.
