First World War ski tour: historic Dolomiti Superski

This challenging ski tour is sometimes known as the “Peace Tour”. It takes you around the Col di Lana, covering a route of 80 km around the Col di Lana where the Austrian Kaiserjäger, German Alpenkorps, and Italian Alpini fought ferociously during the First World War.

Today, the Col di Lana is a war memorial. The First World War ski tour covers the famous peaks of Civetta, Monte Pelmo, Tofana, Lagazuoi, Conturines, Settsass, Sassongher, Sella and Marmolada, guaranteeing stunning views. This tour is challenging, and only suitable for experienced skiers.

Tips

  • If you want to complete the First World War ski tour in a single day, you should set off early. Plan for at least six to eight hours. You can also complete it over two days, giving you more time to explore the different ski resorts and locations.
  • The Civetta ski resort is a popular starting point for the First World War ski tour, but you can also start from San Cassiano, Corvara, Arabba, and Malga Ciapela.
  • The runs from Lagazuoi to Armentarola and from Punta Rocca over the Marmolada glacier to Malga Ciapela are stunning. Covering 12 km, these are the longest slopes in the Dolomites.
