Dantercepies - Puez: A lunar landscape
- Val Gardena
- 2,531 m
Start from Selva Gardena and go up on the Dantercëppies lift. From the mountain station you immediately see a magnificent view from Passo Gardena (2,121 m) and from there you take an easy quite flat path until after a short walk you reach rifugio “Jimmy”. The path from here goes down in a quite steep manner until you come to the top of the Cir.fork. From here you pass across the Val Chedul at its higherst point and come to the top of Passo Crespëina, where there is a characteristic cross. Along this walk you pass close to Col Turond and to Sas de Ciampac and then you skirt the wonderful small lake of Crespëina with its magnetic shades of blue and green. To the right there is a breathtaking view which appears to be a surface of the moon for it is a series of highs and lows which will take you up to rifugio Puez (2,475 m). After a short rest and snack you come back down via Vallunga passing under the rockface of the Stevia where it is not rare to see chamois, deer, and even a golden eagle! Continuing on you make your way back to Selva.
