Details

From the center of Cortina, you cycle to Son dei Prade, where you take the brand new Cortina Skyline cable car, open also in summer since the 2023 season. An exciting trip between the imposing face of the Rozes and the unmistakable spires of the 5 Torri, which in 15 minutes connects the 4.5 km that separate Son dei Prade and Bai de Dones in a straight line, on a route through the Ampezzo Dolomites from a privileged perspective, that of the sky. The route reveals the most beautiful sights that the Queen of the Dolomites has to offer: starting from Son dei Prade, you leave behind the Cortina basin embraced by Faloria, Cristallo, Pomagagnon and, to the right, Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago, Lastron de Formin. After passing the intermediate station of Cianzopé, you finally arrive at Bai de Dones.

You then ascend with the 5 Torri chairlift up to Rifugio Scoiattoli, from which opens a simply stunning panorama: the Tofane behind you, Averau standing out against the sky, and the 5 Torri so close you feel you can touch them. You get back on the bike heading for Rifugio Averau, one of the most historic huts of Cortina. Then you descend along path 441 towards Falzarego. Once at the Pass, you follow Strada de La Vena, an ancient route that connected the Fursil Mines of Colle Santa Lucia to the melting furnaces of the Castello di Andraz. It is a road with a very pleasant ups and downs through the woods with views of the villages below, well maintained and signposted, allowing you to make a circuit around Monte Pore. The route continues towards Passo Giau until reaching Rifugio Fedare. From here you climb again to Rifugio Averau (by bike or carrying it on the chairlift), then descend towards Rifugio 5 Torri and, following path 424, return to the center of Cortina.
