CIAMPEDIE'
- Alpine Hut
- Vigo di Fassa (San Giovanni di Fassa)
An old refuge (it goes back to 1912) built in a beautiful location, which translates from Ladin into English as Field of God. If you come up by cable car from Vigo di Fassa the refuge is the first stage if you’re heading towards Catinaccio and Roda da Vael, but families with children will probably stop at the playground. It’s hard to say if it’s nicer to walk on this plateau in the summer or in winter when Ciampedìe becomes the main gateway to the Catinaccio ski area. The view of the Dolomites and the Valle di Fassa is in both cases spectacular and the moderate altitude means everyone can experience the thrill of spending a night closer to the stars. Open from the first week of June to the first week of October Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks The refuge is an acknowledged base for all outings in the Catinaccio - Rosengarten A (downhill) walk of 40 minutes takes you past the Rifugio Negritella and along an easy footpath through the woods to the Conca di Gardeccia, and another hour (difficulty E) takes you to the Vajolet and Preuss refuges at the foot of the Torri del Vajolet. A more challenging walk is the circular route which goes round Cigolade passing the Rifugio Roda da Vael before returning to Ciampedìe (4 hours, difficulty E).
