Description

Where the narrow and wild Noana Valley finally opens, here is the Refuge Fonteghi, in an area between the Belluno Dolomites Park (to the south) and the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park (to the north). Here, people come (also) to do canyoning in the surprising gorges carved by the waters of the Rio Neva. The Refuge was built in the late 1950s when the dam that created the artificial lake was constructed and has been recently renovated and equipped with a large veranda. In the kitchen, there are typical dishes, ancient recipes, and zero-kilometer ingredients, such as vegetables grown in the garden. Attention to well-being and the environment is also found in the rooms, where the heating is in the walls, made from eco-friendly materials.

HOSPITALITY AND TRADITION

At Refuge Fonteghi, the kitchen is a family affair.

In the kitchen, you'll find mom Franca with her son Julio. It is just the two of us who take care of the menu every day, bringing our Trentino roots to life in all the dishes. We love to offer genuine, sincere, and satisfying dishes. We personally handle many preparations such as fresh pasta, gnocchi and spätzle, breadsticks, typical Trentino desserts, and much more. Our polenta is made according to tradition: it is slowly cooked in the “candrola” on the “spoler.” The products we choose are often from "zero" kilometers: we love to go mushroom picking in the nearby woods and enrich our recipes with the freshest ingredients.

Itineraries
In 1 hour and 30 minutes on an easy path, you can reach the Refuge Caltena, while it takes 3 hours to get to the Refuge Vederna (also without difficulty) and 2.15 hours to the Refuge Boz, from the CAI of Feltre, in Alta Val Neva (easy).

Fishing licenses
At Refuge Fonteghi, fishing licenses are issued for the entire area: from the stream to the Noana Valley Dam.

How to Reach the Fonteghi Hut

MT 1110

The Fonteghi Hut is located in Val Noana in Trentino.

If you want to reach the Fonteghi Hut by car: we recommend not to follow the navigator's directions as the road is not properly signposted.

Start from the village of Imèr and follow the road signs to Val Noana (SP 221 of Val Noana). Continue on a narrow paved road for 9 km. We have added signs along the road, follow them and you will reach us without difficulty.

The Hut is also accessible on foot and is the ideal starting point for numerous excursions of varying difficulty.
