On the trail of geological formations in the Dolomites

The Dolomites play an important role at international level in a historical context in that it is directly here that oner can observe the great range of formations. In fact over all the area there are the most varied of formations, they the result of weathering, of plate tectonics, and of glacial activity. At the top of the Resciesa cablecar you can take the path in the direction of Brogles, and in so doing a vast natural geological display will be before your eyes. You will be able to take in the small earth pyramids of Cuecenes and those opposite the Seceda mountain. The particular curious feature of these latter ones is the layer formation on display, the layers representing the individual eras of their formation.

The excursion can be completed by taking one of two routes:

  1. from Brogles following the path of the Pana fork and then to return up with the Seceda lifts
  2. from Brogles taking the path in the direction of Furnes and from there by cablecar to Ortisei
