On the trail of World War I

Between 1915 and 1918 bloody and harsh battles between Italian Austrian fighting force took place there. The first Italian front line was positioned on the Cima Tognola peaks. Nowadays, on the Tognola Peak you can still find Big War trenches, tunnels and fortifications. An old overgrown mule track goes up to Malga Tognola and then to the Peak. You will go uphill easily finding pumped small lakes and rhododendrons until you reach the top and the first fortifications. Special pickets mark the old mule track. Some symbols indicate a significant historic track. Nearby the galleries, trenches and fortifications there are a number of information charts telling you about soldiers’ life during wartime.
