A day in the sunshine
They are called the points on the clock face: nine o'clock, ten, eleven, midday and on to one, the Sesto peak in the Dolomites. Why not experience all of this... and without any danger ! From Sesto the sun can be seen from these points over majestic summits and you can read the actual hour on the most impressive dial one could wish to find, that of the sundial in the heavens. The 'Meridian' skiing tour is in reality a trip in the sunshine on skis. Take either a romantic horse drawn sleigh or a skibus, and soak up the magical surroundings. Setting off, we swing up on the imposing 'Elmo' mountain (shaped like a helmet), an ideal skiing resort for the whole family. The tour starts in the morning, when the slopes glisten just as if they were silver and you fly towards Sesto as if the clouds were carrying you along. Your horse drawn sleigh is waiting for you there and the renowned Avellinese horses carry you onwards with their bells tinkling as they go in the direction of the Fischlein Valley.

Two possibilities
Beneath 'ten o'clock' which is also at the Rotwandspitze (the red cliff) - the Rotwand meadows spread out before us, a very special skiing paradise, above all for the children. It's the next stop on the tour. If you're feeling a little hungry, then noticing the tasty Val Pusteria specialities, you'll be faced with a decision to make: either a short round trip - with a romantic interlude reaching Sesto- Moos - or the more comprehensive possibility, which leads on to a smooth, thrilling skiing run to the Kreuzberg Pass. Innichen is the third stop on the 'Meridian'. The sun has already long passed the midday point, but it's still too early for a taste of culture in the Romanesque collegiate church or a relaxing bathing experience in the pool. So we have one more skiing run from Haunold. This rocky giant is a good 3,000 metres high and a real giant at that, as the locals will tell you.

Tip:
The Elmo plateau is at centre stage in the resort and also a culinary meeting point. In the cosy traditional rooms of the Elmo restaurants, the 'Stuben', regional fish specialities are served. During the winter season gourmets make their way up on the Elmo cable cars so that they too can reach the peak of enjoyment.
