Further winter activities

Sledging

It may be a more practiced winter pastime in northern Europe than in Italy but this is no reason to miss out on fun times. Sledging down one of the specially prepared runs is greater fun than most things you will ever do. What a good laugh and what a shared enjoyment this can be – it belongs to a world of Mary Poppins, so innocent and delightful is the pleasure for young and not so young alike. Many of the mountain huts offer the possibility to hire and the hurtling down from on high is certainly thrilling. And what better way to seal a romantic evening than a sledge-ride down under the light of the moon. Full moons are made for this?

Cross country

It is difficult to believe but the cross-country trails in the Dolomiti Superski territory cover more than 1.177 km! This would be a distance the length of Italy – from Bolzano in the north to Palermo in the south. What more could you ask for? Our trails are part of this winter paradise – at a high altitude and perfectly maintained on a daily basis. So in this fairytale land of whiter than white fine flaky snow the silence and reflection we all need at times is yours for the taking.

Figure skating

For us dancing on ice and generally skating away the winter hours is as normal as going for a walk.
So normal indeed that some of our local stars have shone on the international scene. And for years now the Italian national hockey team has trained in our stadiums. Everything about fun on ice is a special joy and no better sight is there than a game of hockey out there on the lake. You too can take part so let’s get ready! On with those skates and away we go … dancing across the ice!

Winter walking

It’s time to hunt out some the hidden treasures of Nature and the only way is to head off through the woods. You will come across barns suggestive of times gone by, works of art a little here and there, and crossing the snowy meadows you will be glad to reach a welcoming mountain hut full of the warmth and goodness associated with our rich rural traditions. And when you think that the sun shines 8 days out of 10 there is plenty of time to discover many beauties – both of Nature and of a cultural variety. Times to remember are here for you!
