News fresh as snow!
It's a new beginning for the ski area Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia! The ski season 2016-17 starts with the launch of the new enviromentally friendly ski lift Castelir-Morea, with three stations (downhill, halfway, uphill).
Replacing the two old chair lifts Castelir-Fassane and Fassane-Morea, 13 pillars will be removed from the sky slopes. So, only 15 pillars will be left. The new cable car Bellamonte 3.0, that can carry 2,200 people per hour, will meet the security needs of all skiers, especially children. It will also improve the access to the ski slopes for disabled people who regularly join the slopes together with their ski instructors from the association Sportabili Onlus of Predazzo. The large 10 seater-cabins will enable passengers to carry their sledges. The sledge trail Fraina will be closer to the mid-station, thanks to a 300 mt-long trail extension. From winter 2016-17 the sledge trail will be 1.9 km long.
In the ski area of the Ski Center Latemar (45 km of ski slopes accessible from Predazzo, Pampeago and Obereggen) there will be three major innovations in Obereggen: during 2016-17 winter season, a new skilift, a futuristic shelter and a new sledge trail will be inaugurated.
In Obereggen, the current fixed-4 seats chair lift Laner will be replaced by a modern telemix (chairs and cabins on the same skilift). While experienced skiers can quickly get to the slopes using the chairs and keeping their skis on, pedestrians, sledders and children can comfortably take the cabins. The new skilift in Obereggen will be equipped with 6-seater chairs and 8-seater cabins. By telemix you'll be able to easily reach the brand new sledge trail, which is 750 mt long and goes from Epircher-Laner shelter to the downhill station of Absam-Maierl chair lift. The ski slope Laner will be further enlarged and improved in order to guarantee a relaxing and pleasant skiing and sledging experience.
In Obereggen, at the beginning of the slope Oberholz a new shelter is going to be built. It will be made of wood and glass and with three verandas coming out of the mountains. The unique structure will be composed of a single body that will then divide into three large glass windows overlooking the surrounding mountains. During the ski season 2016-17 we will enjoy the view of this amazing building from the uphill station of Oberholz chair lift in Obereggen. The shelter, built with eco sustainable materials, will integrate seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Inside the building a bar will welcome skiers and hikers. Here they can enjoy small snacks and drinks. The idea of combining a contemporary design concept and natural spaces is a project by Peter Pichler and Pavol Mikolajcak.
In Pampeago, along the track Agnello that goes through the art park RespirArt (one of the highest parks in the world), you'll have the opportunity to admire new pieces of art realised during summer 2016 by international renowned artists. Once you get off the chair lift Agnello, towards La Tresca you'll experience the art installation by the German artist Thorsten Schütt "Warrior of peace of the Dolomites". In front of the terrace of the shelter Monte Angelo, if you raise your eyes, you'll see the curious installations of "Vedo non vedo" (I see I don't see) by Luke Prosser (it's a great eye of stainless steel and corten steel placed towards the Dolomites), as well as the installation "Harmonia" by the Polish designer Dorota Koziara. This work of art wants to highlight the energy that you can get from Latemar. Skiing on the track Agnello it will be possible to enjoy the art installations that had been already exposed during the past ski season: "Overture" by Aldo Pallaro, "Totem" by Sandro Scalet, "Natura Viva" (Living nature) by Mauro Lampo Olivotto, "L'arte è un mistero con ali di farfalla" (Art is a mystery with butterfly wings) and "Il teatro del Latemar" (Latemar's theater) by Marco Nones, "Mind's Eye" by Cleveland's artist Olga Ziemska and "Il giardino di Danae" (Danae's garden) by the leading artist Hidetoshi Nagasawa. Ten works of art will be exposed along the track Angelo. We kindly inform you that in case of heavy snowfall you will be able to admire only the highest works.
Alpe Cermis will be even more welcoming. Get to Doss Laresi area, at the intermediate station of the cable car (1,280 mt. a.s.l). The amusement park games in Cermislandia snow will introduce some innovations, including sledge and snow tube trails. Let's visit the large and brand new ski school, near Cermislandia.
Doss dei Laresi restyling began last year (2015), when the lounge bar "La Baita Tonda" was built, a lodge made of larch wood and furnished in the "Minimal Alp Chic " style: large glass windows, raw wood, bright furniture whith shades of red and lime green, stylized trees, contemporary art prints on the walls and a panoramic stove right in the middle of the bar. The same contemporary design was chosen to renovate and enlarge the restaurant "Ristorante Baita Dosso Larici". This new horizontal structure, made of larch wood slats and large windows, includes the restaurant, the lounge bar and the arrival station of the cable car, creating a sense of harmony in the surrounding mountain landscape.
During 2016-17 winter season, Olimpia track will be lightened for night skiing on Wednesdays and Fridays (19:30 - 22:30), while the Cermis WiFi connection will be available on all the tracks (also Prafiorì).
The big news for next winter is Valle Silver, the brand new skipass replacing the XL 3+3 launched the last year. Ski area Val di Fiemme
The Ski Center Latemar naturalistic paradise includes 50 km of pistes connecting Pampeago, Predazzo and Obereggen. Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia slopes caress the boundaries of the Paneveggio Nature Park, one of the safeguarded environments which favoured the decision of Unesco to add the Dolomites in its list of worthy sites. The pistes at Passo Rolle unfold before the majestic Pale di S. Martino.
The sight from the Alpe Cermis skiing area, which includes the long Olimpia track (7,5 km), is one of the most enchanting in the Dolomites.
A number of panoramic views of the famous calcareous mountains, that reflect the colourful shades of dawn and sunset, can be admired from Passo Lavazé-Oclini, where downhill and cross-country skiing merge together.
Après Ski & lots of fun
After a brilliant day on the slopes stop off in mountain huts and umbrella bars, with good music and party time.
Even with the skis still on, drinking something together, just to get carried away by the atmosphere or perhaps a thrilling snowmobile ride to a ski lodge for dinner.
In all ski resorts, after skiing, there are plenty of opportunities to party, drink and have fun.
The night spots in the valley add more sizzle and sparkle with music and entertainment.
