In winter time indeed the steep walls of the Serrai di Sottoguda, which are almost 100 meters high, are covered by a thick layer of ice that allows guests to practice ice climbing in the best conditions; the low average temperature during winter and the limited exposure to the sun guarantee indeed excellent ice conditions for the whole season. If you'd like to try this fascinating winter sport even if you're beginners, remember that the Agordino area offers a lot of professional, qualified Mountain Guides which are completely at your disposal.
